June 2023 Movie Preview: “Superheros and the Finale of a Legend”

We are right in the middle of summer blockbuster season and June has its fair share. Comic book movies and what seems like the 14th Transformers film and a bow out for a legendary character. Throw in some Jennifer Lawrence and we are good to go. Here are the movies you should watch this June.

Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse

Everyone seems to think I hate animated movies, which isn’t true. I just don’t see them frequently. I do want to see this one though. I was late to the party watching the first one but it was damn good. I will watch any Spider-Man movie even if I think it is going to suck (which isn’t the case here). The hype is real for this movie and many say it is even better than the first. (Release Date: June 2nd)

The Flash

The DCEU is all over the place. I don’t care about that. I’ve been intrigued about this movie since I saw the first trailer and we get multiple Batmans and it is a cool story and some nostalgia mixed in as well. I’ve never been a big fan of The Flash character in general but this movie hopefully could change my mind (Release Date: June 16th)

Asteroid City

Don’t really know too much about this movie other than the cast is STACKED. Tom Hanks, Margot Robbie, Scarlett Johansson, Bryan Cranston and Jeffrey Wright just to name a few. I’m always down for quirky comedy and that looks like what we are getting with this one. I’m down. (Release Date: June 16th)

No Hard Feelings

If you aren’t into superheroes this month, here is a comedy that from the trailers looks pretty funny. I feel like it has been a hot minute since I’ve seen Jennifer Lawrence in a movie but she is back and hopefully this is a good one. Making this an R-rated comedy should be for the best. (Release Date: June 23rd)

Indiana Jones and the Dial of Destiny

Another year that we are saying goodbye to a legendary character. Harrison Ford did state this was his last time playing Indy. I don’t care what early reviews said it’s Indiana Jones. I have loved these movies since I was a kid (even though 4 wasn’t very good). I think rewatching the franchise prior to watching this is a must. Thank you, Harrison Ford. (Release Date: June 30th)

I know what you’re thinking. No I didn’t include the new Transformers because I am way behind and frankly don’t have any interest. Let me know if you watch it and it actually turns out to be a decent movie. I think of this group that Across the Spider-Verse will be the best but they all could be really good. Which movies will you be going to see? Let me know in the comments Cheers and Happy Viewing!
