Postseason football has finally arrived! The second weekend of January gives us Wildcard Weekend in the NFL. 14 teams dreaming of holding the Lombardi Trophy. Majority of the podcast is looking forward to this weekend (Sorry Kevin) as the playoffs start A quick breakdown and some predictions for the six matchups.
Seattle Seahawks @ San Francisco 49ers (Saturday 4:30 p.m. on FOX)
Brock Purdy vs. Geno Smith. Not two QBs I would have predicted to be in the playoffs this year. We open up the playoffs this year with these NFC West rivals going to battle. San Fran swept the season series and I predict they have no issue making it a clean sweep 3-0 against Seattle. 49ers handle business 31-17.
Crew Picks: 49ers: Chris/Kevin /Chase Seahawks: Jason
Los Angeles Chargers @ Jacksonville Jaguars (Saturday 8:15 p.m. on NBC)
40% of the podcast can't stop screaming DUUUUUVAL after the Jags knocked off the Titans and won the AFC South title for the first time since 2017. Another primetime game for the Jags against the Chargers who they crushed 38-10 back in Week 3. Playoffs is a different situation and first time these two have met in the postseason. I predict the Jags winning streak continues and they edge the Chargers 24-21.
Crew Picks: Jags: Chris/Kevin/Jason/Chase
Miami Dolphins @ Buffalo Bills (Sunday 1 p.m. on CBS)
The rollercoaster of emotion Chase felt last week is only going to get worse this weekend. The Dolphins claimed the final AFC playoff spot and have to travel to Buffalo this weekend. They split the season series but with the new that Tua is out, going to need a defensive shutdown and their top WRs (Waddle and Hill to step up). Sorry Chaser but I have the Bills winning comfortably 34-17.
Crew Picks: Bills: Chris/Jason/Kevin Dolphins: Chase
New York Giants @ Minnesota Vikings (Sunday 4:30 p.m. on FOX)
This is the one playoff game that I'm actually split about. It looks on paper that the Vikings should win but I just have a gut feeling that an upset is brewing. These teams met back on Christmas Eve with the Vikings squeaking out a 27-24 on a game winning FG. I predict the same, but it's going to be the Giants with the game winner. Giants win 27-24.
Crew Picks: Giants: Chris/Jason Vikings: Kevin/Chase
Baltimore Ravens @ Cincinnati Bengals (Sunday 8:15 p.m. on NBC)
AFC North rivals going at it for the second straight week. They split the season series with the Bengals winning comfortably last weekend. It is looking more likely that Lamar Jackson will be out for the game which means it is looking more likely that Burrow and company will be able to move on to try and reach their seconds straight Super Bowl. Bengals win 24-14.
Crew Picks: Bengals: Chris/Jason/Kevin/Chase
Dallas Cowboys @ Tampa Bay Buccaneers (Monday. 8:15 p.m. on ESPN)
The final game of the weekend has the Cowboys traveling to the under .500 NFC South champion Bucs led by Tom Brady who refuses to retire. The Cowboys looked rough last week against Washington and have lost eight straight playoff road games. I think it's going to be a close game but this season isn't done yet for TB12. Bucs hold off Dallas 20-17.
Crew Picks: Bucs: Chris/Jason Cowboys: Kevin/Chase
There it is. I have predicted the 49ers, Jags, Bills, Giants, Bengals and Bucs to move on the divisional round. For Chaser's sake, I would love to see the Dolphins upset the Bills and if anything, we all want some exciting games. I don't need to see any 60-7 blowout games like we did for the CFB Championship. Who do you think will win these games? Who is your pick to win the Super Bowl? Let me know in the comments! Cheers to football!
